Factors in Planning a Solar Electric System

Planning and Sizing a Solar Electric System

We cannot overemphasize the importance of putting together the most accurate information you can. Without it we are only guessing. There is a lot of information to gather about your site and needs. When you are ready, contact us, we can help.

In sizing a PV system the first two factors we work from are the sunlight levels or insolation values from your area and the daily power consumption of your electrical loads. We discuss determining your power consumption in the Fundamentals Guide. There we examined the "demand" side of the equation, here we explore the "supply" side. We must ask and then answer such questions as "What type of modules do I need?", "how many modules are required to meet my power needs?", "how should I connect them?" and "how can I get the most out of them?"
